Southern
Corporation's
Summary of
Experience
Auditing is the only activity of Southern Corporation, and as of 2003 the
firm has ten years experience in this highly specialized field spanning the
spectrum from candy manufacturing to aircraft.
Any plant that consumes compressed air is a potential candidate for
auditing. Traditionally, the solution prior to auditing a system is to
install and operate more and larger equipment. This results in minimum
acceptable results at the highest possible cost - - "a more is better
philosophy". The only legitimate result of applying "more is better" with
compressed air is receiver storage.
Compressor applications experience includes centrifugals, rotary
screws (lubricated and two stage dry), variable frequency or speed
drivers, and reciprocating compressors.
Clean up equipment experience includes filtration, drainage, and
dryers of all designs,
Systems experience consists of supply, distribution, and demand
(actual users).
In the performance of an audit, all aspects of the total system are
analyzed for performance and operating costs; e.g..

Solution consists of specific recommendations to:
Distribution issues and solutions provided in the firm's recommendations
are those that meet good business practices.
Demand side analyses for waste and poorly applied applications include
specific recommendations to reduce demand without sacrificing quality or
performance. In fact, the exact opposite is provided with a compressed air
system that has a constant pressure for all operating conditions and is
clean and dry.

Our firm maintains a position of "solutions neutrality". We have no
financial interest in the outcome of the audit or implementation. We are one
of a very few truly independent auditors. All income is derived from
consulting fees. No commissions, kick backs, stock options, or other forms
of income are accepted for any reason. Therefore, we can work with all
manufacturers and distributors as most offer acceptable lines of performance
based equipment that when properly configured will provide acceptable levels
of efficient performance. The system is the focal point, not individual
pieces of equipment. The motto is to provide the least expensive system with
quality performance based on the total cost over five years. The least
expensive equipment may actually have the greatest operating cost. When the
cost of compressed air is 65 to 85% energy, system performance is more
significant than capital cost.
Any system can be improved. 99% of all existing systems, which have been
subjected to an audit by an independent consultant will also result in lower
operating costs. The norm for operating cost reduction is 25 to 40%. The
extreme is 10 to 90%.
All reports are provided in hard copy and electronically. Microsoft Office
and AutoCAD are the standard Programs utilized. Three-dimensional AutoCAD
P&ID's are provided as may be required. |
